Guide to the “Light Up Action”

The Global Development Report on An Eco-Security System for All People is an annual publication documenting worldwide progress in promoting the National Eco-Security System (NESS) in all countries. It also highlights research outcomes aligned with the global theme: "One Target · An Eco-Security System for All People."

The “Light Up Action”, demonstrates participants' willingness to support and engage in research on the NESS in their respective countries. This initiative lays a critical foundation for long-term, interdisciplinary collaboration on Eco-Security at both national and global levels.

We invite you to submit your “Light Up Action” for inclusion in the report to be issued in late May. A decade or two from now, you will take pride in having contributed to this pivotal endeavor for humanity’s future.

You may express your willingness in one of the following ways:

1. Short Written Statement: Follow the examples below (replace underlined fields as needed) and a brief introduction to the organization:

Example 1:

A total of 10 experts and students from organization name have made a promise to pay attention to the ecological condition needed to the long-term survival of all people in Country name.

Example 2:

A total of 10 experts and students from School of Life Sciences, Nanjing University expressed their willingness to support and participate in the research and development of the National Eco-Security System of Country name.

2. Participation List (Optional): Include names and affiliations of participants.

3. “Light Up Action” Photo (Optional)

o Print or draw this picture on the next page on a blackboard/paper (filling in your unit’s name).

o Sign names or draw hearts in the designated area.

o Pose with heart gestures for a group photo.

4. “Light Up Action” Video (Optional): While recording the video, you can say together, “I promise to pay attention to the ecological conditions essential for the long-term survival of all people in Country name.” Shoot in landscape mode with your cellphone.

Submit your materials to the IEC/IYEC of your country or NESSISN@ness.link. The deadline for submission for the 2024 edition is 30 April, 2025.
